Zusammenfassung

Der Autor systematisiert Schöpfungsmythen traditioneller Gesellschaften und veranschaulicht – in Form einer Metaerzählung – universale Schritte der Kulturentwicklung. Er erläutert die Entstehung einer dualisierten Weltsicht und die transformative Funktion von Wendezeiten und Übergangsritualen. Sein historischer Abriss endet mit dem Eingreifen der Europäer in das Leben traditioneller Gesellschaften, die diese als apokalyptischen Untergang ihrer Lebenswelt wahrgenommen haben. Der Aufsatz insgesamt ist eine narrative und gleichwohl feldtheoretisch angelegte Analyse kulturhistorischer Wendeprozesse.

Abstract

In the pay of sin. Apocalyptic imaginations in traditional societies. The author looks at myths of creation and demonstrates universal stages of cultural developments by way of telling a story from a meta level. He explains how the dualistic perspective on the world came into existence and talks about the transforming functions of times of change and rituals of transition. His historical account comprises the time span until the European interfere with the life of traditional societies, who in turn, looked at them as an apocalyptic decline of their world. The article in total is both, a narrative and field theoretical analyses of processes of cultural change.
