Abstract: ‚Von der Lebenskunst im Umgang mit sich selbst‘ — dieser Satz ist gleichzeitig Promm und Herausforderung, denn Lebenskunst als bewusste, überlegte Lebensführung ist gerade im Zusammenhang mit einem Freiheitsbegriff, der sich kulturell als ‚Befreiung‘ und Freiwerden von Gebundenheit versteht, eine Möglichkeit für das Individuum sich nicht nur als sich befreiendes, sondern auch als Freiheitsformen schaffendes zu begreifen. Vom einzelnen Selbst ausgehend kommt es zu einer ‚kulturellen Integrität‘, die sich im Zeitalter der Globalisierung leben lässt, statt zu einer ‚Identität‘, die jegliche eigene Veränderung und jede Einbeziehung von Anderen rigoros ablehnen muss.

Abstract

Cultural identities in the age of globalisation. ‚The art of living in relation to oneself‘ — this is both programmatic and challenging. The art of living as an aware and reflecting way to live ones life contains especially in connection with the term ‚freedom‘, understood as liberation and freedom from something, the possibility for the Individual to become the creator of the shape freedom can take. Starting from the self a ‚cultural integrity‘ as a way or life can develop, rather than an ‚identity‘, which has to be opposed to any personal change and the inclusion of others.
